Many people believed that the Atkins diet was the answer to all weight loss problems.
Whilst this is true for the most part, many people quickly discovered that as soon as they finished the diet they gained excessive weight.
In some cases the results were devastating.
Nutritionists, health professionals and the like have not as yet been convinced that the Atkins diet has any long term benefits for the follower.
One of the greatest concerns is the havoc it may cause on the kidney's due to the high consumption of protein from meats.
The other concern is the effects of potentially high cholesterol levels due to the consumption of cream, cheese, butter and high fat meats such as bacon and sausages.
Is It Really Safe? Who really knows, it can't possibly be told or known until those who have participated produce favorable or unfavorable results measured by the health professionals.
In my opinion the diet must have some health benefits in terms of reducing one's intake of high carb foods such as cakes, biscuits and chocolate etc.
Reducing these foods must have some benefits.
There is also the option of choosing lower fat cuts of meat such as chicken, steak and fish.

Far too many people have lost weight for it to be any other way.
It is not yet known if there are any long terms effects where cholesterol levels are concerned.
Nor do the experts know of the dangers one might endure to the kidneys.
