How to Wire a Decorative Light Switch
- 1). Turn off the power to the lighting circuit by turning off the breaker in the main electrical panel.
- 2). Locate the black power-supply wire in the electrical switch box. The power-supply wire feeds the electricity from the breaker panel to the decorative light switch.
- 3). Locate the black wire that is connected to the light in the electrical switch box. This wire attaches to the decorative light switch, and once the switch is in the on position, it will allow the electricity to flow through the decorative light switch and power the light.
- 4). Wire the power-supply wire to the decorative light switch. Wrap the black power-supply wire around the screw located on the bottom right of the decorative light switch and tighten to hold the wire in place.
- 5). Connect the light wire to the decorative light switch. Wrap the black wire that connects to the light fixture around the screw located at the top right of the decorative light switch and tighten the screw to hold the wire firmly in place.
- 6). Turn on the power to the lighting circuit by turning on the breaker in the main electrical panel.
