Just the other day I had a yard sale.
I scoured through my cupboards and closets searching for gently used items to sell.
Thoughts ran through my mind like, "have I used this in the last six months?", and "how much could I get for this".
The last place I went to was my closet; for someone who has "nothing to wear" I sure have a lot of clothes.
I looked at my shoe racks, yes pleural, and thought, "Hmmm, maybe I could get rid of some of these".
As I looked at each pair, I began to feel guilty at the amount of shoes I've acquired.
I pared down to the necessities and the rest I pulled out to sell.
Fast forward to one week post yard sale; I now have left over stuff that didn't sell.
As I make my piles for different organizations I begin to think about my shoes.
How fortunate I am to have shoes, and the abundance of shoes.
There are so many people who go without and here I am looking at shoes to donate.
I decided I didn't want to donate these shoes to an organization that was going to sell them for profit; I want these to go to people who need them and who won't have to pay.
Shoes should be the least of the people's worries.
There are plenty of organizations that will take your used shoes, find out which one is the best and easiest for you.
Most organizations will take any shoes; work shoes, boots, sandals, children shoes; you name it and they'll take it.
As long as they aren't totally unusable and destined for the trash can.
They need to have some use left in them as they will protecting the feet of someone who desperately needs them somewhere in the world.
I was so excited to find the organization that I donated my shoes too! I've also made a decision to stop at yard sales and find more shoes, buy them and donate them to this cause.
The shoes will go to kids and adults in both America, as we have a great need here, as well as globally.
