How to Hot Powder Coat an Oven
- 1). Move your oven into a area, such a garage, where you can safely coat it with the hot powder coat and not affect other appliances.
- 2). Remove a thin layer of the metal covering in the entire interior of the oven or on an interior part where you want the coating to be placed using a sandblaster, if necessary. Use a low-pressure setting when pulling the handle on the sandblaster, which blows out compressed air, and make sure to slowly go back and forth over the existing finishing so that you remove it carefully.
- 3). Add the powder to the spray gun, and then begin to carefully apply the powder coat to one side of the interior of the oven or part of the oven. Move the spray gun back and forth slowly in order to attain even coverage.
- 4). Continue to spray another even coat on the other side of the interior or part you want coated.
- 5). Allow the coating to dry for at least one hour. Use a sponge soaked in soapy water to wipe the oven clean and then wash off all of the soap with plain water.
- 6). Place your oven back into your kitchen and plug in the power supply. Use the oven regularly, and the coating will continue to set in.
