Online Electronic Project Management Training
- The PMI offers five certificates, the Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate; the Certified Associate of Project Management (CAPM) certificate; the Program Management Professional (PgMP) certificate; the PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP) certificate; and the PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) certificate.
- The Project Management Professional (PMP) certification program is the most widely offered. The PMP certification enables the holder to lead projects and project teams. To sit the exam, candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and five years of project management experience, or a Bachelor's degree and three years of project management. Both types of candidate also need 35 hours of project management education, which can be completed online. They will also have to sit a four-hour multiple choice exam which contains 200 questions. Students can obtain practice tests online in order to prepare for their examination. Students are permitted to take the exam up to three times in the year of their certification.
- Through PMIs eSeminarsWorld, an online extension of PMI's SeminarsWorld Program, candidates can take online courses, usually of two weeks' duration, which will focus on specific areas of project management and parts of the various examinations available. Each online course features discussion questions, individual and group assignments with classmates, and feedback from qualified instructors. The format includes audio, visual, discussion questions, group projects, partner exercises, role-playing exercises, case studies and self-tests to help prepare for the examination. Each course will carry a certain number of Professional Development Units (PDUs) which will count towards the number of hours required in order to be permitted to sit the examination.
- The PMI gives a list of all approved Registered Education Providers to be sure that candidates are being prepared correctly for their appropriate certification examination. A searchable list of all approved online courses can be found at their website.
- The PMI and its REPs offer web-based real-time courses, web-based asynchronous programs (pre-recorded so that you can study whenever you like), or hybrid courses with an online component but some in-class activities or seminars.
