How to Calculate FMLA Tracking for Free
- 1). Contact your employer to determine any paperwork you must complete before taking your leave. You can also consult the U.S. Department of Labor's FMLA forms and fact sheets for additional information.
- 2). Download the FMLA Attendance Form (see Resources). If your organization has its own form for recording FMLA hours, you should use that instead.
- 3). Locate and open the downloaded file (ousattendance.xlsx) with your preferred spreadsheet program, such as Microsoft Excel.
- 4). Save the file in a secure location on your computer.
- 5). Enter in the number of hours for each day of each month that you take FMLA leave. The spreadsheet will automatically calculate totals for each month as well as overall total.
- 6). Follow procedures determined by your employer to turn in your completed forms and attendance records.
