Installing a Kirby Vacuum Belt
- 1). Unplug the electrical cord of the Kirby vacuum from the electrical outlet before attempting to install the belt. Lower the height adjustment lever on the top of the vacuum base, moving it to the lowest setting.
- 2). Flip the light hood up in the front of the vacuum, turning the vacuum belt lifter behind the light hood counter-clockwise. Locate the accessory lock under the light hood, turning it to the left to detach the front cover of the vacuum base.
- 3). Take the front cover off the vacuum base, turning the vacuum belt lifter clockwise to loosen the belt. Lift the two latches at the back of the vacuum base, removing the roller plate from off the vacuum base.
- 4). Twist the end of the roller bracket enough to take the roller bush out of the roller plate. Lift out the roller brush and remove any old pieces of belt or strings that are wrapped around the brush roller.
- 5). Install a new belt around the brush roller, sliding the roller back into the roller plate. Reattach the roller plate to the vacuum base, securing it by flipping the two latches back down.
- 6). Stretch the belt over the motor shaft, turning the vacuum belt lifter counter-clockwise to tighten the belt. Turn the vacuum belt lifter clockwise to lock the accessory lock on the front cover onto the vacuum base.
- 7). Flip the light hood back down over the front of the vacuum base. Plug the electrical cord of the Kirby vacuum into the electrical outlet.
