How to Write a Salesletter That Works

103 45
It doesn't take genius to become a good copywriter, but you need to be able to put your sentences together in a way which will grab people's attention.
This is particularly relevant when you write a sales letter and I'm going to give you some tips to help you do that.
#1: Target Your Salesletter This means that you focus on what your customer wants or needs and not what you think they want or need.
For instance, I'm an Internet Marketer so I wouldn't be promoting something like gardening products in my salesletter.
Whatever your product make sure that it complies with your website and don't go off on a tangent.
#2: Use the K.
I.
S.
S.
Principle
Your salesletters should be short and sweet and to the point.
They should include:
  • Who you are
  • What you can offer to help them
  • If they're interested in your offer how they can they get it?
If you stick with those three points then you have the basis of a good salesletter.
#3: Be Original Most of the letters I receive are either far too long and in a lot cases just plain boring! A lot of them look the same.
When you write your salesletter think about the person at the other end reading it.
You need to show them that you have the capacity to write a compelling salesletter.
That doesn't mean that you show off! As above keep it short and sweet and let some of your character shine through.
#4: Don't Be Stiff and Formal Try to write in a conversational style rather than being too proper.
Don't preach either.
Customers would rather read a salesletter that flows freely and is not too formal or stilted.
#5: Grab Their Attention A good prospecting letter is a fantastic marketing tool, and it all starts with the headline.
If your headline doesn't grab their attention then you may as well forget about them reading any further.
Show a bit of personality in your headline so that they want to read more about you and what you have to offer.
Test with a few different ones until you find the right one.
#6: Keep Your Credibility Intact Make sure you do a spell check and correct any issues with your grammar before sending it out.
If need be, have someone else double check it for you before it's sent.
Whatever you do, do not spell the prospect's name incorrectly and don't misspell the headline.
If you're adding an email address to your salesletter, don't use a free one.
Use one with the ending as your website eg.
@yourwebsite.
com Be professional when writing your salesletter and remember to keep in mind what your main purpose is.
You have a product or service to sell, so keep it short and concise and to the point.
