    • 1). Speak with one of your bank's employees or go to the bank's website to see whether online banking is available. Although most banks offer free Internet banking, you may want to inquire about your bank's policy.

    • 2). Register for online banking at your bank's website. This usually consists of entering your account information along with your personal information, such as name, address and contact numbers.

    • 3). Set up a user name and password when prompted. Be sure to create a secure password. Choose a password that is at least seven to 10 characters long and a combination of letters and numbers. Do not use common words, dates or phrases such as your name, birth date or address.

    • 4). Access your account via the online banking service, but don't be surprised if there's a brief waiting period before you can actually view your account and make changes to it.

    • 5). Click on the account name or number, or the word "balance" to view your balance information.

    • 6). Check for tabs across the top of the screen that allow you to perform operations that affect your account. Common services accessed via these tabs are bill pay, funds transfer and budget functions.

    • 7). Add the name, address and account number for any payees that you wish to add to your online bill-pay service. Once you enter this information, you will be able to type in the amount you want to pay and the date on which you would like to send the money. Be sure to check your bank's policy on the time frame in which it sends various bill amounts. Some accounts can be paid electronically the same day, while some are sent through regular mail and can take up to a week.

    • 8). Click on the hyperlink associated with a check number in your Net banking account. Some banks call the link "View." The front of the processed check comes into view. A nearby link should give you a view of the back of the check so you can see the endorsement.

    • 9). Open the funds transfer section and select from the schedule options, for example, "Same Day" and "Future or Repeating." Enter an amount you wish to transfer from one account to another and follow the on-screen instructions.
