DIY Monogrammed Aisle Runner
- 1). Design your monogram. You can do this online using a logo creation website such as LogoEase.com, or an online photo editor, such as Pixlr.com, or you can use PowerPoint to create your logo and save the image as a .jpg file. If you had an artist design your logo by hand, scan the logo onto your computer so you have a digital version of the file.
- 2). Save your monogram to a flash drive and take it to a professional printer, such as Kinkos. Ask the printer to enlarge your monogram to be slightly smaller than your aisle runner. For instance, if you aisle runner is 36-inches wide, have your monogram blown up to about 28-inches wide. The monogram may look slightly pixilated after it is enlarged, but that's ok. As long as you can see the lines clearly enough, it is usable.
- 3). Tape the monogram to the floor in a hallway or large open room where you have plenty of floor space. Tape each corner of the paper and maybe a few places on the side to ensure that it doesn't move or wrinkled. Unroll your aisle runner partly and position it over the monogram where you want it to appear on the runner. Most monograms are placed at the end of the runner, but it can be positioned anywhere you'd like.
- 4). Trace your monogram onto your aisle runner with a pencil. Be sure to trace every detail, because you will have to paint it based on these pencil lines when you are finished.
- 5). Paint your monogram using acrylic paint and colors that coordinate with your wedding. Work from the inside of the monogram out, allowing each color to dry completely before you start painting with another. This will prevent the colors from bleeding.
- 6). Allow the paint to dry completely, overnight or longer, to make sure you don't smudge your work of art in any way. While it is drying, keep children and animals away to make sure no hair or fuzz gets stuck in the paint.
