I do not really go to the movies often, maybe three times a year, usually for larger productions screen as the Lord of the Rings or any episode of Star Wars or the new King Kong, from time to time for a drama out of time or Comedy. That does not mean I do not see movies - I do, only in the privacy of my own home. The problem is that the public bother me with speech and chewing and snorting crack and now. I have a problem of control over my viewing environment, right?
Anyway, I can count on one hand, assuming that none of my digits have been hacked off, the number of calls horror movies I've seen in a theater in my life. The last one -. Alien, 1979 The last that was purposely rented to see The Blair Witch Project, 1999 Of course, I tuned in the art usually around Halloween to get my fill Freddie, Michael and his friends.. It's like anything else, when I want to laugh, I see the comedy; when I want to think, I see a documentary. I know what I experience when I experience it. And once in a blue moon, I would be afraid.

Such was the case this past weekend. So I went to see " Hostel ". That seemed to be the movie to see with horror.
A couple of things. First, I'm not good with things gore; " Reanimator " comes to mind as a great example of Gore NUTS. Secondly, I 'm not big on the scene of the crash; you know - bump in the night shots. But that's exactly what I look for when I want to be afraid. Working. They scare the living shit out of me. So I have a couple of restless nights later, maybe less appetite for a few hours. Eventually, I am able to dismiss the reality of the film and I'm good to go for another two or three years. Not so with " Hostel ".

I should have known something was up when the type of tickets at the box office warned me about the content and offered a refund of the money if I left before the end. But no, I realized that it was all part of the hype, something like when theaters vomit bags handed out for " Mark of the Devil" in 1970.

I was wrong, very wrong! I should have listened to his words.

My rating system for movies is quite simple: two eyes open (large, ie, looking at him without blinking ), both eyes open (well, that is, stayed up until the end ), with one eye open (just, ie, the moments of drowsiness ) and finally both eyes closed ( poor, ie, fell asleep ).

" Hostel " got - Two eyes tight - so tight I had - to- have-it - open -with-a - iron wheels. My eyelids involuntarily closed shortly after a long steel drill gouged their way into the bare thigh of a pleading cry young male torture prop. It was just five seconds it would be about five minutes long - it felt like a lifetime - assault pure, unadulterated, uncompromising, unapologetic gore. I almost did not; swirled my stomach. But finally, the darkness and the screaming stopped. There was a momentary pause to run along the frame and push the hero in the end inevitable slaughter salacious twenty-five minutes and the desperate depravity. My armpits were dripping like a fire hydrant uncapped.

When the noise that distorts started again, I pushed my body as far down as it could go without touching the floor sticky theater, squeezed tight lids, and grabbed while riding the roller coaster out of control tissues bloodied body. I soon learned that you can not get low enough in the stadium seats.

I will not go into details of the final; well, actually I can not because I honestly do not see much. But I have not get into it. I'll jump in my opinion, this movie is not scary. It is a mistake!

Use a premise "real facts", loosely based on a documented practice in Thailand in which poor souls leave be killed by paying customers to collect insurance money for families. In this case, it is a bad remote Slovak village, and lawless trade whose sole business is to deceive young healthy humans to a remote store wet summary in which you buy as scapegoats for problems with rich men who pay very well for the possibility of torture and kill. Americans live fetch $ 25,000 each, $ 15,000 Europeans, and all other $ 5,000 for the locals who bring them; The youth hostel to be a great player in the scheme. Everyone in town is in on it; after all, seems to be an endless source of income that comes from a lot of CEO's disrepair - dull men with prostitutes and Vegas. A completely new definition of a cottage industry is given.

Anyway, the reason I maintain that terror is not because they do not scare me. I was hit in the head with lifeless limbs and Dolby dread. If I want horror, I see a girl of ten years eating bloody arm separated from his father in " living dead " delight. Or I want to see a slimy alien pop unexpectedly stomach an unsuspecting space traveler. Now that's horror. I can deal with that. At the end of the day, I can say "it's all fake."

However, " Hostel " revels in graphic detail the worst man's inhumanity to man. Charged in the reality of snuff films. You benefit from the truths of Dr. Josef Mengele. Full adolescent male heads, the main (and possibly only ) target audience with the most unimaginable real human potential. It is and scrape the bottom of what I thought was a bottomless pit of DNA went wrong. It ends with a desperate feeling that has not been corrected; it will be business as usual torture.

And the film is profitable and what is wrong! The only thing more wrong is the rating. I am amazed that the film did not receive an NC-17 rating. Amazed! The MPAA was well asleep at the switch or under the thumb of Abramoff lobby.
In regard to the approval of Tarantino, what is he thinking? I just do not know. I mean you have the right to do whatever he wants, as long as it is not harmful. But somehow this movie seems harmful. It is not frightening. These fall into the worst of the worst.

And no way I'm off the hook on this either. I paid to see it. I was wrong too!

Look, I'm a lackey of the First Amendment. Lions Gate, the production company, has every right to create and promote what they want. But that does not mean that what they choose to do is exempt from being judged right or wrong, and boy are wrong.
