I do not really go to the movies often, maybe three times a year, usually for larger productions screen as the Lord of the Rings or any episode of Star Wars or the new King Kong, from time to time for a drama out of time or Comedy. It's like anything else, when I want to laugh, I see the comedy; when I want to think, I see a documentary. I know what I experience when I experience it. And once in a blue moon, I would be afraid.
Such was the case this past weekend. So I went to see " Hostel ". That seemed to be the movie to see with horror.
A couple of things. First, I'm not good with things gore; " Reanimator " comes to mind as a great example of Gore NUTS. Secondly, I 'm not big on the scene of the crash; you know - bump in the night shots. But that's exactly what I look for when I want to be afraid. Working. They scare the living shit out of me. So I have a couple of restless nights later, maybe less appetite for a few hours. Eventually, I am able to dismiss the reality of the film and I'm good to go for another two or three years. Not so with " Hostel ".
I should have known something was up when the type of tickets at the box office warned me about the content and offered a refund of the money if I left before the end. But no, I realized that it was all part of the hype, something like when theaters vomit bags handed out for " Mark of the Devil" in 1970.
I was wrong, very wrong! I should have listened to his words.

My armpits were dripping like a fire hydrant uncapped.
When the noise that distorts started again, I pushed my body as far down as it could go without touching the floor sticky theater, squeezed tight lids, and grabbed while riding the roller coaster out of control tissues bloodied body. I soon learned that you can not get low enough in the stadium seats.
I will not go into details of the final; well, actually I can not because I honestly do not see much. But I have not get into it. I'll jump in my opinion, this movie is not scary. It is a mistake!
Use a premise "real facts", loosely based on a documented practice in Thailand in which poor souls leave be killed by paying customers to collect insurance money for families. In regard to the approval of Tarantino, what is he thinking? I just do not know. I mean you have the right to do whatever he wants, as long as it is not harmful. But somehow this movie seems harmful. It is not frightening. These fall into the worst of the worst.
And no way I'm off the hook on this either. I paid to see it. I was wrong too!
