How It Works:

The Max trainer mixes a modified stair-climbing motion with the upper body arms of an elliptical to give you a low impact but highly effective workout.

An independent study showed that people on the Max trainer burned up to 2.5 times more calories than the elliptical, stairclimber or treadmill. Some exercisers even went up to 600 calories in just half an hour!

Testing in the lab also showed that the Max trainer engaged 80% more upper body muscles than a regular elliptical machine.

While it's possible to just workout at a low setting for a longer time, the highlight of this trainer is the 14 minute high intensity workout. You alternate high and low intensity for 14 minutes.

The M3 is a bit simpler and comes in under $1000 - so it's the most affordable of the two.

The M5 gives you a bright, backlit console, more workouts, Bluetooth syncing and hand grips heart sensors.
