How to Use Your Sprint Blackberry As a Modem
- 1). Check your data usage plan with Sprint before do anything else. Using your Sprint BlackBerry as an Internet modem uses your data plan, and Sprint will charge you based on your contract. If you choose to skip this step, you may find unexpected data usage charges on your next bill.
- 2). Download and install the current version of the Blackberry desktop manager to your laptop computer from the Research in Motion website (see Resources). Once the process is complete, open the desktop manager and connect your Sprint Blackberry to the laptop using the USB connecting cord.
- 3). Double click on the IP Modem option and click Configure. Choose Sprint from dropdown menu under Connection Profile. Then click OK. Click the Connect button on the right side of the screen to connect to the Internet.
- 4). When you are ready to disconnect from your Sprint Blackberry, click the disconnect button. Above that, the desktop manager will display how long you have been connected through the Internet modem and how many kilobytes you have transferred. This may be important if you have a limited data usage plan and want to know how much of it you are using.
