Most people say that we do not need a military or to have an army available, and they often ask this question; "Why do you want to build an Army pick an enemy unless you want to take something that is not yours.
" Well, the answer to that is quite simple, and rather than refer to the historically famous military philosopher Karl von Clausewitz, why don't I just give it my best shot.
The answer to the question; "Why build a military unless you are going to try to take something that is not yours," is simply this; To defend what you have against another who would take it by force if they could.
This is why the US has the DOD Department of Defense, not the Department of Offense.
Still, sometimes I think we really do need the [Department of Offense] or DOO, to do what must be done when necessary.
And if the peaceniks want DOPE Department of Peace and Ecology, heck, go right ahead and create one, but don't get your hopes up, smoking that stuff never solved any problem.
I suppose all the war protestors could sit around and smoke grass and say "peace" to all things, but in reality we live in the real world and when you have a nation as great as the one we've built, well then you had better protect it, if you want to keep it.
This is not to say that political impasse in diplomacy should be allowed to occur easily, rather it is to say that in the end we must face reality otherwise we may as well be smoking something.
