Evolution and The Bible

103 53
Never before has our world been so flooded with articles, documentaries, conferences and lectures in attempts to explain the origin of life.
Every single day, there seems to be new evidences supporting one theory or refuting another.
So goes the drama as millions of spectators watch in awe as the players babble on.
It is quite exciting to follow the stories and theories supported and proposed by evolutionists.
But does "exciting" makes fact? I am a Christian and believe in the Holy Bible as the true word of God, I am also a medical scientists and don't blot out my ears when evolutionists speak.
I am very much aware of the lifelong arguments that have involved evolutionists and faithfuls of creationism.
It is not new that these two schools of thoughts have for long castigated each other.
This may go on for sometime though.
We have insisted that the two thought lines are mutually exclusive but what if this is not true? What if evolution did occur but not as stated and upheld by evolutionists? What if evolution was the process of creation? What if we are trying to say that the root is less important than the leaf of a tree? These questions and lots more may linger on for some time but what evolutionists may not have considered is the vital questions of why we are here? What is the tipping point of evolution? What is its purpose? Why hasn't it taken place on Mars? If evolution ensured our adaptation to life on earth, why wouldn't there be a similar adaptation on Venus or Jupiter and a form of life emerged? The Holy Bible teaches that God created the heavens and the earth.
And this he did, by his word.
Yet it doesn't make sense to evolutionists especially when proves exists to support step wise changes in the atmosphere and earth that culminated in evolution of man.
It is for these same reasons that I am witting.
In Genesis 1:1, the bible says "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
" Verse two goes on to say "the earth was void and formless and darkness covered the face of the deep and the spirit of God hovered over the waters.
" Evolution proposes that the universe started by a "big bang" and "nucleosynthesis".
What if these are just fancy words used in place of creation? Of course you wouldn't use creation if you don't accept that a supreme being does exist.
At least evolution did agree that the universe started before the sun started to shine.
Well, so does the bible say.
Evolution also agrees that the earth was all water at some point.
It is seemingly intelligent to try to explain things that unfolded before we had brains, but we must not be too desperate to explain things beyond our knowledge, at least for now.
A study of verse 9 will speak of possible volcanic eruptions, mountain formation and weathering to form soil.
How different is this from theories of evolution that supported land formation from weathering.
Verse 20 of the same chapter talked about the emergence of aquatic life which is also supported by evolution but did not specify the transformation of one life form different completely from its origin.
From verse 11 through 18, one will observe that there was a careful, deliberately laid plan to make a suitable environment before life evolved in the waters.
My argument is, evolution doesn't think so.
It believes that the unfriendliness of the water led to the emergence of different species which only died out to produce yet another species.
And this, the bible disagrees with.
It says the environment was conducive before life emerged.
You will observe that before aquatic life, God had made the grasses, other plants and the sun to support their growth.
It was no chance, these were deliberate decisions well timed.
After the emergence of aquatic life, the birds were next in line and the other animals followed.
Evolution recognizes that life exists in hierarchy but however mistaken this strata to mean development of one species from another.
You don't see an art work and assume that it designed itself by assembling some nucleons or even paint atoms from what.
The bible implied that man evolved only about 6000-7000 years ago.
Evolution thinks otherwise.
I am neutral at this and don't rule out the possibilities of pre Adamic humans or even human-like creatures (just like apes) which gives us data of upwards of 10 million years.
It is a possibility but I don't agree with theories of man or any other animal emerging from less discrete or should I say less adaptive species.
I believe that every creature was created the way it was or is, even those that died out.
Another thing I considered was that, there was no time interval recorded in the bible between the earth's creation and when man was created.
It could have been billions of years, I don't know but it is a possibility.
Evolution is a very intelligent concept but I think evolutionists have missed out by trying to rule out God the creator of all existence and I think that Christians have not been open minded to observe that evolution could have been the process of creation even if some theories are only fanciful.
So much can be said concerning this matter and will take more than this writing but I would like to conclude that a critical study of the bible and evolution will afford us a better explanation of the origin of life and while hostilities keep building.
I think it is more important that we try to understand why we are here and the purpose we are still alive instead of arguing how we came to be.
