Many Have Gone With Hepatitis - Be Warned!

103 63
Hepatitis has proven to be one of those fashionable diseases that have hijacked the well-being of mankind.
More and more people all over the world are going down with the disease as a result of one health factor or the other.
It affects both the young and the old.
It affects both children and adults - it cuts across all ages, ethnic groups and races.
Hepatitis occurs in any society where people eat some foods that supply the body with protein and other classes of food.
Hepatitis has been described by medical experts as the inflammation of the liver due to damage, malfunction or injury.
There are Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C.
Research is ongoing as at the time of filing this publication to find out whether there are other types of the disease.
The liver is the largest glandular organ in the body.
It is flanked by two blood vessels known as hepatic portal vein and hepatic portal artery with the sole responsibility of carrying blood in and out of the liver.
The liver performs about 500 functions and experts have since revealed that a human being will not last more than 24 hours if the liver fails.
Research published in July, 2008 by the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health and School of Medicine researchers on hepatitis shows that nearly 200 million people globally are infected by hepatitis C, including 4 million Americans.
70% of people with hepatitis C later develop chronic liver disease, and the infection is the leading reason for liver transplantation in the United States.
Unlike hepatitis A and B, there is no vaccine to prevent hepatitis C infection.
Since hepatitis C typically has no symptoms, many people do not know they have the infection until they develop signs of liver failure or fatty liver, sometimes decades after infection.
The virus replicates and mutates quickly, helping it to evade discovery and attack by the immune system and allowing it to slowly wreak havoc on the liver.
To help prevent hepatitis of any type, let your doctor know about your liver condition when being treated for other conditions.
Medications come in several forms and it is best to find out what is in them and what it can do to your liver because some medications can really destroy your liver.
Another thing you have to do is to eat healthy diet rich in dietary fiber and turn your eyes away from junk food.
You know as much as I do that your liver plays a very vital role in your body so you can't afford to lose it to any form of liver disease including hepatitis.
As a parent, check the condition of your liver and that of your family from time to time just to make sure that the organ is in perfect condition and not in any way threatened by hepatitis.
