All funding for new library books was one of the accounts cut from the 2010-11 school budget...
With schools and libraries losing funding to buy books, new and creative solutions to raise money are being sought.
In a sponsored edition, the back cover can be customized to talk about why s non-profit organization needs to raise money.
Sponsoring a children's book is an enjoyable way for Parent Teacher Organizations and other non-profits to raise substantial funds, and for members enjoy the process.
In fact, it's one of the few ways that school-aged children can take an active role in raising funds, while building their self esteem.
Here's the skinny: • An entertaining children's book that banishes monsters and helps children make friends is something that children relate to.
They will talk about the book to other children and to adults who might want to buy the book.
They do it with zest.
• Professionals, parents and grandparents are more interested in selling a book that children enjoy than they are in selling boxes of candy • A book with great reviews on the web site is easy to sell, even if you're talking to someone in a different town on country--simply ask them to visit the website.
• It has the potential to raise funds immediately, by selling it and making a profit, and to encourage donations for years to come.
• Unlike other fund raising concepts, the PTO members are not limited to selling people that they know.
The book can be sold effectively via news releases, and by asking your current membership base to pass the word by sending out a few e-mails asking people (anywhere in the English, Spanish or Italian) speaking world to buy the book to support the PTO.
• It's easy to make $5.
00 or more per book.
• 100 people who sell 5 books each generate 500 sales with $2,500-$3,500 in profit, depending how many books they buy at one time.
• This amount of earnings can be doubled or tripled by word-of-mouth advertising, without any additional effort on the part of the PTO members.
• Web-based/publicity generated sales can add another $2,500 to $3,500 in profit with minor effort.
(Send out some press releases that are crafted for the PTO and make a follow up phone call or two.
) • This is only one of several opportunities.
