Many people either forget to stretch or they consider stretching is not important.
Stretching is important and it is recommended that you do a stretching routine before and after an exercise training session.
If you think stretching is a waste of time then the following 6 reasons may change your mind.
Reason One: Stretching helps the body speed up the process of getting rid of waste by-products and toxins.
It also helps to transport the nutrients from the food to anywhere in the body where it is most needed.
Reason Two: A stretch routine increases blood circulation to the major organs and the many joints in our body ensuring they stay healthy and flexible.
Reason Three: Increases the return of the muscles to a relaxed and resting length.
Reason Four: Regular stretching helps to relax the muscles and make them more supple.
This helps with our day to day activates whether it is reaching up for a tin of food on a shelf are throwing a basketball through a hoop.
Reason Five: Can help delay aging.
As we get older our joints become stiffer especially if we have done little to no regular exercise.
By stretching you help your body slow down the effects of aging.
Certain medical studies now maintain that stiffness in the joints is more to do with lack of use rather than us getting older.
Reason Six: Even if you are not doing any form of exercise a short stretching routine has a relaxing affect on the body.
If you come back from stressful day at the office there is nothing as effective and natural than a good stretch to ease those tensions away.
As you can see stretching can have many benefits.
By stretching the muscles regularly you will prevent them from contracting and shortening over time.
Muscles that are tight and contracted will over time limit your movement.
If you sit in the same position with your shoulders hunched over your desk you will develop a poor posture.
This will eventually lead to health and bone problems as you get older.
Sitting in one position for a long time uses certain muscle groups while others are underutilised.
This causes imbalances in the body.
Therefore, if you sit in one position all day then make the habit of getting up and doing stretch routines a couple of times each day.
After a while you will really feel a difference.
If you do a lot of physical exercise then warm up and stretch your limbs before and after a workout.
