Training Secrets of Olympic Athletes
Win YOUR Gold! I love watching Olympic athletes from all over going for the GOLD.
One of my favorite sports is the gymnastics.
When I was younger I wanted to be just like Mary Lou Retton.
I was such a fan that I even had the same hairstyle.
Olympic athletes are truly amazing machines.
Watching them the past week has been a reminder of what the human body is capable of when trained appropriately.
A swimmer like Michael Phelps has a much different physical training regimen than a gymnast like Gabby Douglas.
However they have much in common when it comes to mental training.
To be a top athlete or to be at one's best there are 4 things one must have: 1) Definitive Goal - Olympic athletes are going for the GOLD! They have a very definitive goal to be #1 in the world.
The goal is clear and they have a timetable to train and reach the goal.
2) Support Team - All Olympic athletes have coaches to give them the knowledge, tools, training, and accountability to reach their goals.
3) Focus - With their goal determined they stay focused on that goal until it is reached.
4) Determination - Obstacles WILL always come.
Top athletes have obstacles just like the rest of us.
They find a way around the obstacle (a strategy) rather than allowing the obstacle to BLOCK their way.
Most of us aren't going for an Olympic medal.
However, we can strive to be at our best no matter our OBSTACLES.
95% of our obstacles/excuses are just that - EXCUSES!!! Just like Olympic athletes our bodies do what we train them to do.
What are you training YOUR body to do? If YOU are not happy with YOUR body YOU have the power to change it.
Most of us are where we are today (good or bad) because of our training/lifestyle.
Olympic athletes' lives revolve around "SLEEP, EAT, & TRAIN".
Then they get up the next day and do it again and again.
Most train for many years to get to the top.
Many athletes train up to 6-8 hours/day and 7 days/week.
They also follow regimented eating plans to fuel their bodies for the best results.
This Olympic level of training is much more intense than what we need to obtain general health and fitness.
Yet, most of us don't have ANY type of regular training routine.
How can YOU bring out the Athlete inside you and get in your BEST SHAPE EVER? Pick your "GOLD" (goal) and train for it!
