Lyme Disease and Deer Repellent

Lyme disease is a disease from a certain bacteria that passed to humans through tick bites. It shares its symptoms with so many other diseases (such as the common flu) that specialists sometimes call it the "great pretender". It's a disease that can be caught by both animals and humans.

Lyme disease is a lot more common in the United States than people think and it is actually getting more and more common in the United States and across Europe. It is found more in children than in adults. The treatment is a lot more difficult than just preventing the disease. The disease is commonly known to come from ticks, specifically from deer ticks from deer. It is recommended that you use caution when you are in an area that could be frequented by deer or is known to be infested with ticks. If you are walking in an area like this, or camping in an area that is known to have deer it is highly recommended that you use insect repellent. The bacteria can't be spread from one human to another; it can only enter your body from a tick bite.

Lyme disease has an early and a late stage. Some symptoms are dermatological showing up as rashes. If you get Lyme disease and don't get the proper treatment it could go on to affect your heart, eyes, joints and even your nervous system.

The disease is very easy to detect now. If you have a rash that looks like a bull's eye and if you've been in contact with ticks your doctor is sure to diagnose you right away with Lyme disease. If you want further confirmation then your doctor can do a quick and easy blood test. Once diagnosed the treatment is a few weeks of antibiotics. Despite what you may here online, Lyme disease can be cured completely and leave no side effects what so ever if diagnosed and treated early. If you are feeling any of the symptoms of Lyme disease and have either been bitten by a tick or are around areas or pets that have ticks then get an appointment with your doctor immediately so you can start on the treatment as soon as possible.

If you live in an area where deer come to eat out of lawns and gardens of homes then there are more precautions you can take. There are commercial deer repellents that if used correctly can keep deer out of your yard and away from your garden. This will do a lot to keep you and your pets Lyme disease free. These deer repellents are usually sprays that when applied make the environment unpleasant for deer. Talk to you local nursery about which brand of deer repellent works best in your area.
