State of Tennessee Grants
- Tennessee residents pursuing higher education have a number of state grant opportunities they can seek. The Helping Heroes Grant is a $1,000 per semester award given to a Tennessee resident who is an honorably discharged veteran enrolled in a 2- or 4-year college. The grant recipient must have been awarded the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal or the Global War on Terrorism Medal. The Tennessee HOPE Access Grant provides students enrolled in 4-year colleges $2,750 and those enrolled in 2-year colleges $1,750. The one-time grants are awarded based on academics and financial need.
- The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development provides grant funding for businesses and health-care-related nonprofits that help train current employees. The Incumbent Worker Training Program helps businesses remain competitive by upgrading the skills of the employees. The grant amounts vary but do not exceed $50,000.
- The Tennessee Roadscapes grant program provides funding for landscaping projects along roads owned by the Tennessee Department of Transportation. Through the Tennessee Roadscapes program, TDOT partners with city, county and community organizations to cultivate the landscaping projects along interstates and highways.
