    • 1). Lay the lounge chair out flat and measure length and width. Jot the measurements down for later reference.

    • 2). Buy a piece of foam and cut to chair's measurements. Buy double the chair's measurement in fabric. Plan on cutting out two pieces.

    • 3). Wash and dry the fabric before making cushion to prevent future shrinkage.

    • 4). Lay the fabric on a large, flat surface. Add 1/2 the width of the foam to the length of the chair. Example: If the chair is 20 inches long and the foam is three inches thick, add 1 1/2 inches to 20-inch measurement.) Repeat for the width of the lounge chair.

    • 5). Mark measurements on fabric using chalk. Cut out two pieces, one for the top and one for the bottom of the lounge cushion.

    • 6). Lay out the fabric with the right sides of the fabric together. Line up all the raw edges. Use pins to hold the fabric in place along one long side and both short sides.

    • 7). Sew from one of the corners all the way around the three sides. Remove the fabric from the sewing machine and trim any threads. Clip the corners 1/4 inch from the seam to remove some of the bulk of the fabric.

    • 8). Turn the cushion cover right side out.

    • 9). Insert the foam into the cover from the opening in the long side. Keep working until you have the corners of the foam properly in place inside the cover.

Fold under the raw edges of the cover to enclose the cushion. Use pins to hold the fabric in place.

Hand sew the cushion cover closed using a needle and heavy-duty thread to complete the lounge cushion.
