How to Do Headband Hairstyles
- 1). Start with damp hair. Work a little mousse into the hair to give your style some hold. Blow dry your hair upside down to give the roots some lift and body. Tame flyaway hair with a little mist of hairspray. Tease the hair gently at the crown with a comb until the desired height is achieved. Use the flat iron on your hair to straighten it if it's wavy. Skip this step if you have straight hair. Push a thin- to medium-sized headband on starting at the beginning of your hairline. Go slow as you use the band to smooth the hair out in the front.
- 2). Loosely gather your hair into a big messy ball. Gather it in the middle of the back of your head. Use one hand to hold the hair and the other hand to loosely secure a ponytail holder over the hair. Wrap it around a couple of times but do not wrap it too tight. Let the random pieces of hair fall out where they may. Use a long skinny piece of ribbon as your headband. Put it at the base of your skull and hold the two ends of the ribbon, one in each hand. Bring the ends together to the top of your head and switch hands as you place the right side of the ribbon in the left hand and the left side of the ribbon into the right hand. Bring the ribbon down to the base of the neck and pull gently to tighten it. Tie a bow at the base of the skull.
- 3). Brush your hair back and gather it into a classic ponytail. Secure it with a ponytail holder. Make your ponytail slightly lower than normal. Add a sparkly stretchy style headband to give this ponytail some pizazz.
- 4). Heat up a big barreled curling iron or get your large heated rollers ready. Roll your dry hair up or curl it into big waves. Part your hair down the middle. Take two small one-inch thick pieces of hair out in the front. Push the rest of your hair back over behind your shoulders. Place a small headband directly behind the small pieces. Use a bobby pin to pin the front pieces behind the headband. Keep the pieces a little loose so they slightly drape.
- 5). Keep curly hair looking great with a thick headband. Simply push the headband onto your head. Keep locks tame and the coils soft with the styling product that works best for you.
