How does one accept Christ and become truly saved?
Despite the consequences of your history or background there is one path and only one path into heaven and living a faithful life for God.
John 4:16 (KJV)
16And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
Christ spoke these words; Christ is the son of man and the Son of God. Jesus Christ came to live on earth through a virgin birth to open our hearts to the divine emptiness that was present to the natural state of humanity. Christ died on the cross in our place so that he could bridge the openness between man and God. Christ gave his own life as a living sacrifice to compensate the debt that we owe to God for our sins.
John 1:12-13 (KJV)
12But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Many lost ponder on how to become saved and accept Christ. It is a divine conversion. It takes place within your heart as an outcome of your freewill in accepting Christ's pardon for your sins. Many people from day to day say that they believe in God but that is not enough. Satin himself believes in God and does not make him any less evil. A church, pastor, priest, or all the money and power in the world can save you. Things can lead you to Christ (your family, a T.V. show, or friend) but it cannot save you. It is the result of the choice you make within your heart out from being born again out of faith.
While salvation may be defined using a variety of terms such as being saved, accepting Christ, or being born again, it all comes down to the same thing. Accepting Christ means that you have recognized the need for Christ's pardon of your sins and accepted His gift to you of salvation, being born again signifies the spiritual rebirth which takes place within you upon your belief in and acceptance of Christ, and being saved means that you have made a conscious decision to accept Christ, you became born of the Spirit as a result, and are now no longer one of the ‘lost', who are still without God. Upon attaining salvation, it leads to a personal relationship with God and entitles you to heaven.
Speaking of heaven, one of the major misconceptions about who will be there is ‘good people'. Here on earth, there may indeed be both good and bad people, but it doesn't much matter in terms of salvation, because no matter how ‘good' we are, we can never be good enough. You, on your own merit, cannot meet the requirements of God needed in order to attain your own salvation- that is why Jesus died in your place. He is the very lifeline to God.
Romans 3:22-24 (KJV)
22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Wondering what it is you need to be saved from? Hell, dear friend. It isn't simply the dark side of the latest fairy tale or the cheesy punch line from the last joke you heard, it is a concrete place of existence and contrary to popular belief, it is not simply a place ‘bad' people are sent to face punishment when they die. It is eternal separation from God and I assure you, you want no part of that. Indeed, those residing in hell will face everlasting torment, but each and every sorry soul who spends eternity there will be there as a result of a choice that was made at some point during life on earth. While we sometimes think we know who deserves to be there and who doesn't, we need to realize that hell isn't something God wants for any of us.
1 Timothy 2:3-6 (KJV)
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
Would you like to take a moment now and accept Christ into your life? There is no better time than the present, and in this very moment your life can be forever changed. If you believe that Jesus died for the sin of humanity, and if you would like to accept His pardon for you personally, you may ask him to come into your heart and make your life new. It's a simple request with life altering results, and if you have made this decision, you are now a child of the highest and only God, and one day I will meet you in heaven.
That is how a person accepts Christ and becomes saved. Through faith in Jesus Christ.
Here is a sample prayer below to help you in becoming saved. After being saved you will need a Bible, preferably King James Version Bible. You can download the bible for free in PDF or MS Word at www.calvarymissionarybaptist.org . You are saved and you need to read God's word to help lead your new life in his will. This is our church site. It has audio sermons and more. No signing up or ads. Just the Gospel of Christ.
"Dear Heavenly Father, You have called me to Yourself in the name of Your dear Son Jesus. I realize that Jesus is the only Way, the Truth, and the Life; and is the only Mediator between You and man.
I acknowledge to You that I am a sinner. I believe that Your only begotten Son Jesus Christ shed His precious blood on the cross, died for my sins, and rose again on the third day. I am truly sorry for the deeds which I have committed against
You, and therefore, I am willing to repent (turn away from my sins). Have mercy on me, a sinner. Cleanse me, and forgive me of my sins as I forgive anyone who has ever sinned against me.
I truly desire to serve You, Lord Jesus. Starting from now, I pray that You would help me to hear Your still small voice.
Lord, I desire to be led by Your Holy Spirit so I can faithfully follow You and obey all
of Your commandments. I ask You for the strength to love You more than anything else so I won't fall back into my old ways.
I also ask You to bring genuine believers into my life who will encourage me to live for You and help me stay accountable.
Jesus, I am truly grateful for Your grace which has led me to repentance and has saved me from my sins. By the indwelling of Your Holy Spirit, I now have the power to overcome all sin which before so easily entangled me. Lord Jesus, please
transform my life so that I may bring glory and honor to You alone and not to myself.
Right now I confess Jesus as the Lord of my life. With my heart, I believe that God the Father raised His Son Jesus from the dead. This very moment I acknowledge that Jesus Christ is my Savior and according to His Word, right
now I am born again. Thank You, Jesus,
for coming into my life and hearing my prayer. I ask all of this in the name of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen."
