So here's how to be kind to your feet and treat them with some special care the night before your wedding:
- Get a bucket large enough for both feet to soak in comfortably, or get out your foot spa if you have one, and fill it with warm water.
- Use non-acetone nail polish remover to remove any polish.
- Warm up your feet and stimulate circulation. Prop one foot on your lap and move your thumbs from the top your toes to bottom of your heel and back up. Repeat with the other foot.
- Clip your toenails straight across with a clipper, then use an emery board to smooth the edges.
- Put both feet in the bucket of warm water and soak until the water starts to cool.
- After soaking, use a pumice stone or non-metal foot file to smooth the skin around your heels, balls and sides of your feet.
- Using a fresh towel, pat your feet dry, including between the toes.
- Massage all over your feet with an emollient-enriched lotion to increase circulation and hydrate your feet.
- Remove the moisturizer from between your toes and under your toenails with soap and water, then pat dry.
- Before bedtime, create a makeshift sauna for your feet by wrapping cellophane around each foot. By morning your feet will be smooth and soft and ready for your big day.
