How to Repair a Kohler Bath Fixture
- 1). Turn off the water to the shower at the water mains or the shutoff valves in your access panel. Turn the handle of the shower to the "On" position to remove any water from the pipes.
- 2). Pry the cap off the handle. Remove the screw from the center of the handle using a Philips head screwdriver. If there isn't a screw in the center of the handle, there is a screw on the underside that needs to be removed with an Allen wrench. Pull the handle off.
- 3). Lift up on the retaining clip using a flat head screwdriver. Place the cartridge removal tool that comes with your new cartridge over the cartridge. Wiggle the tool using a wrench until the cartridge comes loose from the wall.
- 4). Align the new cartridge in the wall and push it in. Insert the retaining clip and place the handle back in its original location. Tighten the screw down and replace the cover.
- 1). Turn off the water supply.
- 2). Look on the underside of the bathtub spout for a retaining screw. Remove it with a screwdriver. Turn the bath spout counterclockwise if there isn't a set screw to remove it from the wall.
- 3). Grip the nipple coming out of the wall with a wrench and turn it counterclockwise to remove it. Insert an internal wrench if the nipple is too small to grip with a wrench and turn the internal wrench with another wrench to remove it.
- 4). Wrap the end of the nipple with Teflon tape. Slide on or turn the new spout onto the nipple.
