Based on the favorable performance of the debut set last year, the hobby welcomes back Fleer Authentix for an encore in 2003. Returning for a second season are the popular "AuthenTIX" game-used memorabilia cards, as well as certified autographs from Nolan Ryan, Barry Bonds and Derek Jeter.

With a suggested retail price (SRP) of $3.99 per pack and 24 packs to a full box, Authentix is sure to satisfy even the purest of hobbyists.


The memorabilia insertion rate is on average 3 per box, which ultimately means that with a little bit of luck you can score 4-5 per, which I have seen.

We were able to secure a complete unopened box thanks to our friends at Fleer (shout-out to Josh Perlman!) and here is what we came up with: 3 game-used memorabilia cards - Roger Clemens AuthenTIX jersey, Josh Beckett AuthenTIX jersey and Vladimir Guerrero AuthenTIX bat. In addition to the game-used cardboard, we pulled a serial numbered rookie card of Tigers prospect Nook Logan and a "Balcony" parallel of Mariners mainstay Edgar Martinez, who is very popular amongst Seattle baseball enthusiasts.

All told, we were very satisfied with the 2003 Fleer Authentix product. The base set, which consists of 100 cards, has an outstanding checklist and the card design, albeit similar to last years, really works. The pack price is very attractive and is affordable for every level of collector. Based on our findings, we highly recommend busting open a few packs of 2003 Fleer Authentix.
