How to Make Extra Cash From Things Around the House
- 1). Sell any collectible or desirable items on eBay to get the best price. You'll have a much larger group of buyers on eBay than in your neighborhood, so the odds of finding a person willing to pay top dollar is much higher there. List any rare collectibles such as autographed books, sports memorabilia and scarce Pez dispensers, as well as items like older concert T-shirts, vintage clothing and toys from your childhood.
- 2). Have a yard sale with general household goods. Clear out your entire environment and have a general sale. Get rid of any kitchen or bath items you never use, decorative pieces, musical instruments, craft supplies, clothing or any small pieces that have no immediate important place in your life. Advertise the sale in the local paper and put up flyers around town if your local laws allow them.
- 3). Post larger items on Craigslist. Advertise a sale on any appliances like refrigerators or washing machines, guitars, furniture or car parts. Read through the local version of Craigslist to find the average price charged for similar items so you don't price yours outrageously high or low.
- 4). Take any small, valuable items you have to a pawn shop. You may not get top dollar at a pawn shop but you will receive immediate cash in return for your property. If you're reluctant to part with something valuable and you have a chance of getting enough money to buy it back after a week or two, pawning your property can be a good option.
