How to Clean the Throttle Cable on a Gas Scooter
- 1). Pull the cable cover at the handlebar back to expose the top of the throttle cable body.
- 2). Install the bolt on cable cleaner by sliding the cable into the rubberized cleaner slot and tightening the thumb bolt down to clamp the cable in place.
- 3). Insert the plastic nozzle of the spray cleaner into the nozzle hole on the bolt-on cleaner and spray a five-second burst of cleaner into the apparatus. Watch for liquid to drip out of the bottom of the cable housing near the engine. Repeat two more times.
- 4). Remove the spray cleaner nozzle and then insert the spray lubricant into the nozzle hole and spray a three-second burst into the housing.
- 5). Pull the nozzle out of the nozzle hole and unclamp the bolt-on cleaner apparatus. Slide the cable cover back up and engage the throttle a few times to loosen up the cable and work the lubricant in.
