How to Word Funny Wedding Invitations
- 1). Set the theme of your wedding. Traditionally, the invitation starts with the bride's parents inviting attendees to join them in the celebration of the marriage of their daughter, but you can set an informal tone right off the bat. If you're getting married on the beach, for example, figure out to what degree you would like your invitations to say "beach." Instead of saying, "... invite you to join in the celebration of marriage..." you could say "...request your barefoot presence at the celebration of marriage..." or "...hope to set a beach chair out in your honor."
- 2). Word the details of your wedding clearly so as not to cause confusion. Be cautious when wording the date, time and venue, as this is important information. If the date of your wedding is the date that you met, word it humorously, but keep the date clearly understood. For example, instead of "...at the celebration of their love on the 26th of September, 2010" you could say "...on the 4th anniversary of introducing herself to him on the 26th of September."
- 3). Keep the theme going on your RSVP cards. Instead of writing "will not attend," write "we get sunburned too easily." Instead of "will attend," make it "we'll see you on the beach." Any of these humorous changes do not confuse the invitee, but add to the feel of the beach ceremony.
