How to Find a French Teacher

104 31
    • 1). Check the course guides for your nearest university or community college. It is very likely that French courses are available at these schools, although they may not always conform to your exact skill level. Check with the registrar to ensure that non-matriculated students can sign up for a class.

    • 2). Post an ad seeking a personal language teacher on Craigslist.com, WyzAnt.com or another personal ad website or community message board. With this method, you can specify whether you are looking for someone with teaching experience to give you private lessons or simply a fluent French speaker to chat with.

    • 3). Inquire about language programs at your nearest French consulate. A map of consulates throughout the United States is provided in the "Resources" section below.

    • 4). Post ads seeking a French teacher on various bulletin boards in the community. Try community centers, schools, government buildings and businesses such as bookstores, as many of these places will often have a public bulletin board.
