Surveying College Life

It seems that education is the unknown factor to evolution.
Unknowingly, we go through the rigors of daily living not minding the fact that we have to go to school and get a degree.
It just seems to be there and we never question why everyone in this world has to go to school.
It looks like that the totality of man's existence wouldn't be complete without having an education.
That's a universal fact of life and we cannot change it.
But the deciding question is, is college a reality by Itself? When someone goes to college, he enters a different world.
It's like his folks are sending him to a testing laboratory where he is going to test all he has learned from infancy until the first moment he faces the gates of the university.
Basically, it's not all about the academe.
There's the balancing act to master one's emotional, social, physical, and even spiritual being.
Relating with other students may be fun or it can be hurting.
Being in the college world with other students tests one's beliefs in freedom, equality, and the "no man is an island" lesson.
Then, there are the nights out with no parents around to tell them when enough is enough.
This can lead to another realm of social activities like smoking, drinking, and even drugs! And schedules become full when the time comes for researches and exams.
Sleep becomes a problem when a student has to do his paperwork way past his sleeping time.
And the following morning, he gulps down his cup of coffee as a routine that mom would surely disapprove of.
These are facts about college life and that's only the beginning of the stress that a college student will experience.
A college student survey reveals that most students are so stressed out that they could not even find time to have breakfast on school days.
This survey also discovers that students living away from home have learned to hang out at night with peers to manage their homesickness which always busy-making-a-living parents would not understand.
Students who have to work part time for their day-to-day needs are another story.
The work adds physical stress to what they already get from worrying about academic deadlines.
Count in the professors who equate education with man's war against life! A college student survey also finds that students feel they are in a Spartan camp because their professors are so strict and demanding.
