Ghost in the Shelf

I live in Northeast Louisiana. My mother died in March 2001, and she never got to see her great-grandson by my daughter. He was born March 1, and 15 days after she died in 2002. So they never knew each other.

In 2006, I was playing with my grandson on our bed. He then was almost four years old. We lay down to rest and he looked up to a shelf on the wall and said, "Hey, mamaw." I said, "Hey, baby." His reply was, "No, that mamaw up there," and pointed to the top of the shelf.

I ask him what he saw and he called my mother's name and said she has a friend on her shoulder.

He had not to that day seen a picture of her. My daughter brought in a picture of her and showed it to him. I ask him who that was and he called my mother's name again, then said she was "sitting on your shelf, mamaw, with her friend."

He has since seen her two more times and told me she said she loved him very much. Several years after that, my daughter had another son in December, 2007. In July, 2008, he saw a picture of my parents and right away said "mamaw" and kissed her. Later that week on a Sunday night, he was put in front of that same picture and kissed my dad and said, "Pawpaw, bye bye." My father died that Monday morning.

I have always believed in ghosts, and for grandsons to know them and not know them before told me that my parents are here watching over us. And believe me that is a great comfort.
