Natural Gas Furnace Installation Tools
- Handheld drills are one of the most versatile tools available to a craftsman, and while they are also everyday tools that are common throughout most households they are also useful for the installation of appliances, such as natural gas furnaces. Drills can be used to mount the unit to the floor or walls as well as drill through other materials, such as concrete to bore holes for mounting brackets, and they can also be used to tighten connectors.
- While the ductwork and flanges for natural gas furnaces can be cut by hand with a pair of shears also known as tin snips, you can speed up the process by using a pair of electric shears. They are designed so that you can comfortably hold the tool in one hand to quickly and efficiently cut through any of the trim pieces that need to be attached to the natural gas furnace during the installation.
- One of the most important elements of a natural gas installation is ensuring the pressure for the gas lines is correct. If anything is off or there are leaks you could find yourself in a dangerous position as there are threats from fire and other gas-related problems. Licensed professionals have pressure gauges and know the correct level of pressure for the gas lines to ensure safety during installation.
- Gas lines running into the furnace need to not only be connected in the proper fashion, but also cleared of moisture and air before gas is filtered into the pipes to fuel the furnace. Vacuum pumps are designed to pull the air out of the pipes both during the brazing process and once again afterward when moisture and air are pulled out of the pipes prior to testing.
