How to Bend Rigid Pipe

104 27
    • 1). Separate the two ends of the your pipe bender so the half-circle area at the center opens out. Insert a segment of metal or copper pipe into the gap between the right side of the semi-circle and the base of the right separator.

    • 2). Push the pipe segment so it rests securely in the bender slot. Turn the pipe clamp so it rests over the upper end of the pipe segment.

    • 3). Push the former into the bender so it rests to the right of the pipe segment. The length of pipe can still be moved at this point so ensure it's correctly fitted so it will bend at the point you desire.

    • 4). Put pressure on the bender arm so it moves slightly down and away from the clamp. This creates tension throughout the pipe bender and readies the pipe to be bent. Double check the position of your pipe before starting to bend.

    • 5). Pull firmly down on the right arm of the pipe bender. Stop at the angle where you want the pipe to bend. Pipe benders usually have markers at the 90 degree angle point for guidance.

    • 6). Pull back the bender arm so it rests in its original position. Take out the former and release the pipe from the bending channel. Cut and fit the bent pipe as needed.
