Ideas for Throwing a Bachelorette Party
- If you are lucky enough to be appointed decision maker for a bachelorette party, there are a few things to consider before you plan a wild night. The pressure is on, and it might seem like you are being pulled in all directions, but a successful party comes down to a few key factors. For a party the bride-to-be will genuinely enjoy, the bachelorette party should mirror her unique personality and tastes.
- Find out your bride-to-be's limits before planning this party that symbolizes her last night as a single lady. Some future brides would rather opt for something low key with the girls. Come up with mischievous nicknames for your guests like "Mistress Mary" or "Bootie Betty." You can even go a little raunchier with the names if you like, just be sure to keep it among yourselves. Go to an upscale lounge, have a few drinks and then head over to a male revue, complete with embarrassing antics for the bride-to-be; many clubs and venues will bring the bachelorette onto the stage to be introduced to the crowd. Remember, you are being entrusted by the groom-to-be, so your job as the party planner is to take care of the bride-to-be and guests, making sure the party does not get out of hand.
- Many spas offer group discounts, so a spa party could be a wonderful way to celebrate with the girls; some spas will even close shop and reserve a few hours just for your bride-to-be. Ask the owner if it is okay to bring some wine and have wine glasses ready for your girls. You can also take a trip to a winery after the spa if you are lucky enough to live in close vicinity to a winery. Hire a bus to drive your party to three or four wineries, and have a blast discovering new wines and chatting about everything under the sun.
- For the bride-to-be who was always a tomboy, a sporty bachelorette party will bring out her inner light. Plan a softball tournament on the beach complete with a cooler of beer, wine and sports drinks and take her to a game in the evening; make sure you find a stadium that can flash a message for her on the scoreboard. You can also plan a tennis tournament on a patio, armed with salads, mint juleps, mojitos and tiramisu. Host a place to crash after your tenth inning of home run shots to score points with the entire bridal party.
- Make her feel like a star for the day and take her to get her makeup and hair professionally done, then put her in a limo to pick up all the other girls. Rent out a room or a karaoke lounge for a few hours and bring out your bride-to-be's secret (or not so secret) wish to be the next "American Idol." Plan to serenade her with a few of the other bridesmaids; "That's What Friends Are For" and "Endless Love" sung by a couple of women in tiaras could be quite a riot after a few drinks.
