Looking For Blinds? Ask These 8 Questions
(1) Is your company covered by insurance for any damage you might cause in my home or office? (It would surprise you how many are not insured, or are under insured, and you would have your work cut out trying to get any compensation from them)
(2) Do you have proper bespoke price lists, where you charge for the blind depending on the size of the window? (Some blinds companies charge the same price for a blind for an 8 foot window as a 2 foot window, which in essence means you are paying for an 8 foot blind for any size of window, even a very small window.)
(3) Do you have any genuine testimonials from your satisfied customers? (If not, why not? Are none of their customers happy??)
(4) Will I have to pay a cash deposit upfront, or even pay in full? ( Don't ever pay for the blinds in full until they are fitted to your satisfaction, if they want a deposit always try to pay on a credit card, if you have a dispute with them the credit card company may help you.)
(5) Do you really have 50% off the price of your blinds, did you actually sell these blinds at twice the price you are charging now? (Many companies are always adverting 50% sales, but it's best to read the small print in the advert, which always says "up too 50% off".)
(6) Are you an employee of the company or just an Agent? ( Trying to get an agent to return if you have a problem with your blinds can be like pulling teeth, especially if the agent has left. The new agent has no incentive as they are often on sales commission only. If an employee leaves a new employee would return as he would be on a wage.)
(7) Do you really have blinds at the prices you advertise? (It's not unusual for companies to advertise a price or quote over the phone, but not have blinds at the price apart from colours no one wants.)
(8) What hidden extras do you charge for? ( Vertical blinds can draw 3 ways to the left, to the right and a centre split, like curtains. Some companies charge you for a split opening.)
That should help to sort the wheat from chaff and help you to avoid potential problems in choosing a blinds company.
