Power

• The base engine for the 2005 Chevrolet Silverado is a 4.3-liter V6 generating 195 horsepower and 260 foot-pounds of torque. The V6 earns 18 mpg in the city and 15 mpg on the open road. Optional engines included a 285-hp, 4.8-liter V8 on the extended cab all-wheel drive version and a 345-hp, 6-liter V8 on all-wheel-drive extended cab Super Sport "SS" models.
  
  

Dimensions

• The 2005 regular cab model is 205.7 inches from front to rear bumpers, 78.5 inches wide and 73.8 inches from the ground to the top of the cab. Its wheelbase is 119 inches, although the wheelbase grows to 153 inches on crew cab models.
  
  

Brakes and Suspension

• The Silverado features ventilated disc brakes in the front and drums in the rear. Electronic brake distribution and anti-locking braking systems aid the stopping power. The front suspension consists of an independent wishbone configuration with a rigid beam with leaf springs at the back.
