How to Defend a Cake From Ants
- 1). Place a small round cake on a footed cake plate, and cover it with the lid.
- 2). For added protection, coat the base of the cake plate with petroleum jelly to keep ants from climbing up to reach the cake.
- 3). If you have a serious ant problem, create a moat around your cake to keep hungry ants from getting to it. Pour an inch of water into a large shallow pan. Place the footed cake plate that holds your cake in the center of the pan. If you don't have a footed cake plate, you can place a bowl upside down in the water and set the cake's plate on the bowl. The ants will drown before reaching the cake.
