Some of them require using a few house hold items while others require you to go visit a doctor.
Heartburn can be a pesky problem that can be both annoying and dangerous if not taken care of properly.
For example say you have enjoyed a big dinner at your favorite restaurant.
But all of a sudden you are getting an uncomfortable burning sensation in your chest and throat.
This is what is called heartburn and although it has nothing to do with the heart, it can easily mimic a heart attack.
Getting your heartburn under control will lead to a much more comfortable life where you do not have to consistently worry about pain in your chest and throat.
In this article I will outline two simple remedies you can begin to use today to help relieve your heartburn.
When finding heartburn remedies it is important to find one that is practical and has a proven record of success.
An example of this would be the use of elevation while sleeping.
This simple means that instead of sleeping flat on a bed, you will be sleeping on a slope and gravity will begin to work to your advantage because it will keep the food in your stomach in place preventing it from expanding too much and creating heartburn.
You can use elevation to your advantage by putting wood blocks underneath your legs at the head of your bed and raising it four to six inches.
Also choose a firm sleeping surface and lastly avoid water beds because your body basically lies flat on the water bed.
Since you cannot elevate your chest successfully the contents of your stomach will spill into your esophagus.
Another effective heartburn remedy would be to take over the counter antacid tablets that can help temporary relieve the burn.
Out of all the heartburn remedies on the market this one should be used with caution.
You should not over do it because taking too much antacid tablets can cause reoccurring diarrhea in the long run.
Even if you have forgotten to take your pill you should try to take one about 20 minutes before bedtime.
This is the most important time to take it at because you protect your esophagus from the stomach acids that can creep up on the walls of your stomach at night.
Particularly heartburn that happens at night is more damaging and intense than day time heartburn.
Therefore it is very important to take a tablet just before bed.
In conclusion these two remedies when used together can successfully relieve heartburn temporarily and restore you back to health.
