Contact Lenses vs. Eyeglasses
- Glasses were once thought of as less than stylish, but many new frames have emerged. Contact lenses, meanwhile, come in colored varieties or clear to show your natural eye color.
- Contact lens wearers have reported that they like the increased peripheral vision, while glasses wearers sometimes complain that their lenses fog in certain temperatures.
- The cost of contact lenses has decreased significantly in the past decade, and new eyeglass frames are available in many price ranges. Both now cost about the same amount.
- Glasses should be wiped daily with an appropriate cloth and cleaner. Most contacts should be cleaned daily with solutions; however, you should consult your care instructions.
- Glasses do place weight on the ears and nose unless a "featherweight" frame is selected. Many people report comfort while wearing contact lenses; however, each wearer is different and some experience scratching or pressure sensations.
- People working in certain careers are not permitted to wear contact lenses. According to the American Chemical Society, it is suggested that those working in chemical laboratories not wear contact lenses.
