How to Upload Music to Your Phone
- 1). Buy a microSD memory card with an adapter included. MicroSD cards hold 1 to 32 gigabytes of data, with the amount of data storage capacity influencing the cost. As of January 2011 a 2 gigabyte microSD costs $5.00 to $13.00.
- 2). Insert your microSD memory card into your phone's memory card slot. Instructions for proper microSD car insertion for your cell phone model are in your phone's user manual. MicroSD memory card slots are likely on one of the phone's sides or beneath the battery near the phone's SIM card slot.
- 3). Connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable. Wait for your computer to recognize your phone. Computers will treat our phone and the microSD memory card as an external drive. Note the letter of the drive ( D:, E:, etc.) that your computer assigns to your cell phone. If your computer does not recognize your cell phone, reboot your computer and cell phone and try again. If this does not work, refer to the troubleshooting section of your cell phone or contact its manufacturer for assistance in getting it connected.
- 4). Locate the music on your computer that you want to upload to your phone. Right-click the music file, scroll down to "send to", and send it to the microSD letter drive. If "send to" is not an option, select "copy to" and chose your microSD drive as the destination.
- 1). Remove your microSD memory card from your phone and insert it into the adapter. A microSD memory card adapter is a larger version of your memory card, with a small slot for your microSD card. If you do not have an adapter, or an adapter did not come with your microSD card, buy an adapter from an electronic store. As of January 2011 microSD card adapters cost $3.00 to $8.00.
- 2). Insert the memory card adapter into your computer's SD card slot. The SD card is found on the sides of a laptop, and the back or front of a desktop. Your computer will automatically recognize your memory card and assign it a driver letter.
- 3). Find your music on your computer, and right-click the music file to send it to the memory card (as above). Computers recognize SD card slots as internal drivers, and will copy music files to the microSD card using the adapter.
- 4). Remove the adapter from the SD card slot after all file copying has stopped. Separate the microSD card and the adapter, and place the microSD card into your phone's microSD slot. Reboot your phone, and browse your memory card files to select and listen to your music.
