Building a new home is a very exciting thing to do, however we often forget to think about the work involved in maintaining our new residence. A new home will likely be one of the biggest investments we will ever make and it stands to reason that we would want to make sure it was looked after right? Well here are a couple of quick tips that is going to help you as a new home owner, keep your new home looking and feeling like new for years to come.
Timber decking

Timber decking looks lovely and is a highly coveted feature of any home. It does get exposed to the elements and naturally requires a bit of maintenance from time to time. To revive your timber decking apply a coat of oil every three to six months. You will need a lambs wool applicator, Cabots or Sickens Natural decking oil, and clean paint brush. Wash off any dirt and let the decking completely dry. Use a paint brush to cut in around all edges and apply the oil with even strokes following the length of the timber.

Air-conditioning

I am not sure that anyone building a new home in Perth is going to do so without including air-conditioning so this tip is pretty important. As the summer temperatures start to soar our air conditioners in the home are under constant pressure. To ensure your air conditioner is working efficiently as possible clean all filters before using, especially after long periods of inactivity. On hot humid days when using an evaporative air conditioner it would be wise to only use the fan and not the cool button as this will only increase the humidity in the air.

Cleaning render

To keep your rendered home looking brand new try the following: You will need a soft bristle broom,
hose, dishwashing liquid and a bucket. Simply mix liquid soap with water in a bucket and clean render with the broom. Then simply hose off to bring your render back to life.
