How to Set Life Goals to Combat Anxiety

It is so hard to know where we want to go and what we want to do with our lives.
Success can really only ever happen if we make the right decisions at the right time but this is easier said than done sometimes and it is so hard to know which path we should take even if we know what we want to do.
The things we have, do and see can literally just go under the radar and we just accept things for how they are and not notice them or drive for anything more.
But, by thinking about our lives; what we have and what we want to improve on can give us goal and inspiration to do it and battle things such as anxiety, low self esteem and confidence issues which are now major factors of modern life.
By giving ourselves goals it focuses us to do what we need, ask for help and gives a purpose.
Like most of us, for example, we want to lose weight or at least tone up and will always speak about it but never really do it apart from faddy diets and a few gym sessions.
But by writing down and speaking of a set date, weight goal and dress size you want to be it gives you a guide and target to follow.
Or if you are after that promotion at work speak to your boss and ask what it will take to get it and make an action plan from the answer you get.
To enable you to set your goals and make your life better you do need to be self aware as it helps you to make decisions.
Think about it if we don't know how to control ourselves then how can we control anything that happens to us or the things around us? Having said this there is a possibility that we can become too self aware.
This may sound stupid but it can happen and is maybe reason why some or even many of us shy away from confidence, as when you know yourself inside and out you can tip over the edge of confidence into arrogance making you unrealistic.
So when you don't achieve something you may be affected by it too much which knocks you heavily.
Or, you become judgemental which can hold you back as you wont accept some things for what they are and not take chances because of it.
Don't let this put you off though as it's all about finding the right balance in life which is easy to do when you know how.
Being self aware means that you understand why you think how you think and why you do the things you do.
You are tuned into your thoughts, feelings and actions so you control your reactions to things and take a logical approach to the things in your life.
By having this you will use initiative to your advantage and go after the things you want.
Anyone can have this too, its just a case of understanding what it is and how to use it.
Be confident in your decisions and balance what you know with what you want, don't make rash decisions but take action without procrastinating too much as this can end in problems.
If you say things like 'oh that can wait until tomorrow' or 'do I really have to do that now' then you are a procrastinator so change your way of thinking as it can effect every aspect of your day and life in a bad way as you will not act on those goals.
We all do it, but making excuses why something has not been done is not good enough anymore.
If you make excuses it does not give you the drive to move forward and grab the things you want as you will be looking to others to give it to you and not yourself.
Also being able to accept both the good and the bad is so important in developing your life and reaching your goals.
By doing this you stay realistic and gives you the ability to make those decisions in a clear and calculated way rather than living in a dream land or a negative world.
You really can do anything you want in life it is just a case of knowing who you are, what you want and how to get it.
Have confidence in who you are and use this to get what you want and grow as a person, leading a life that is not controlled by anxiety.
