Should You Get Cosmetic Surgery Over the Holidays?

103 57
Not too long ago I read an article about how some women decided to gift themselves with cosmetic surgery procedures as a way of saying "Merry Christmas".
I imagine many of these women had wanted to have something done for a long time - maybe a nose job, breast implants, or a procedure to get rid of cellulite.
Having the work done over the winter holidays is probably fortuitous for some who were able to take the time off from work.
It's made me wonder, though, if Christmastime is a good period for plastic surgery, if there are advantages and disadvantages to the time.
Let's consider why some women (and men, since plastic surgery is for both) would schedule an appointment over the Christmas holiday: 1) The time is most convenient.
You may have saved up vacation time from work and plan to use the holidays to recover, depending on the procedure.
2) It may not be a busy time for your surgeon.
With people preoccupied with holiday parties and visiting relatives, some may think this is a lull period for elective surgery.
You may be able to get an operation scheduled easily.
3) Depending on where you live, the weather may be more to your liking when you have your procedure done.
You may not feel comfortable having work done in the peak of summer.
Some disadvantages to having cosmetic surgery at Christmas may include: 1) You may have to cancel much of your social calendar.
If friends and family invite you to parties or dinners, you may not have recovered enough to join in the holiday merriment.
You may not feel like celebrating, either.
2) If the idea is to have the work done for the holidays, to show off your new look at Christmas, you may want to consider an earlier operation.
Should you require lengthy healing or if something needs to be repaired, your "unveiling" will be thrown off schedule.
3) If you do not get much time off for Christmas, this time of year is no different from other seasons.
You may find it's more economical and reasonable to wait.
However and whenever you decide to have cosmetic surgery, give the gift to yourself because it's something you want - not because you think other people think you should have it.
Make the time when you know you can afford the vacation, and recover well to enjoy the end result.
