One of the best parts about beautiful North Central Washington is the parks there that belong to the Washington Parks system.
The communities and urban development in the region are on the small side, but the protected natural areas there are in abundance.
The state parks allow people to camp, fish, and participate in all sorts of outdoor recreation.
Here is a look at just a few of the great state parks located in North Central Washington.
Potholes State Park Potholes State Park sits on the shoreline of Potholes Reservoir, just south of Moses Lake.
The park has more than 600 acres of land and features play areas, a boat ramp, and a number of campsites.
Though it is a little bit of a drive to the nearest community of size, there are local stores and services located just outside the park that cater to campers and travelers.
Alta Lake State Park Alta Lake is one of the smaller parks in North Central Washington that allows camping.
The park covers just 181 acres and features a two mile long lake, one that it shares its name with, named Alta Lake.
The park is located right next to a golf course and very near to the Methow River and where it flows into the Columbia River.
Also within an easy drive are the communities of Pateros and Brewster.
The popular vacation destinations of Winthrop and Chelan are also within an easy drive.
The swim area at Alta Lake is popular with campers and locals during the summer.
This gorgeous small lake that nestles right between the park and a small mountain offers a wonderful setting for those that visit it.
Lincoln Rock State Park Lincoln Rock sits on the east side of the Columbia River, just north of the communities of Wenatchee and East Wenatchee.
It is a popular destination for those wanting to visit the Wenatchee area and also participate in water recreation.
The park sits on a section of the river that is right behind Rocky Reach Dam so there is plenty of room for those looking to go fishing, jet skiing, boating, or kayaking.
There are also plenty of campsites located at the park, as well as a boat ramp, docks, play areas, climbing toys, picnic facilities, snack bar, and swimming area.
A nearby paved trail leads all the way south to the Wenatchee area so that visitors to Lincoln Rock State Park can get there by walking or biking.
