Separate silk holly leaves from the stem by grasping the base of the leaf and pulling outward. Line the bottom and sides of your bowl with these leaves. Creatively place pine cones and sprays of artificial red berries around the bowl. For the holidays, just add a few ornaments to the bowl. Add a bundle or two of cinnamon sticks that have been tied together with red ribbon for a fragrant finishing touch. - Michael Turek/Photodisc/Getty Images
Line the bowl with a silk ivy vine. Start in the center of the bottom of the bowl and spiral the ivy around and around until it fills approximately half of the bowl. Use wire cutters to clip the heads off hydrangea stems, leaving 2 to 3 inches of stem in place. Place the flower heads, stem down, in the ivy. Hydrangea heads are usually 3 or 4 inches in diameter, so the number of flower heads used will be determined by the size of the bowl. - Jupiterimages/Photos.com/Getty Images
Pour white sand in the bottom of the bowl to a depth of about 3 inches. Use scissors to cut out a piece of fish net fabric large enough to cover the sand and drape over the sides of the bowl. Place small seashells and starfish randomly on top of the fabric. Stick a cocktail umbrella in the sand for a finishing touch. - ULTRA F/Digital Vision/Getty Images
Line the bottom of the bowl with handkerchiefs that are in fall colors. The number of handkerchiefs will be determined by the size of the bowl. Use different colors of handkerchiefs to give more depth. Fill the bowl with any combination of artificial apples, oranges, mini pumpkins, gourds, and Indian corn. Add a few stems of colorful silk leaves in yellows, reds and oranges to complete your masterpiece.
