Five Amazing European Study Tour Destinations

105 207
When it comes to booking a study tour, there are quite a few factors to take into account. The destination you eventually choose should obviously have some ties to the subject your students are taking, and there should also be a few visible examples of that same subject available for exploration.

Some locations, however, transcend these categorisations and offer something for literally everyone, making them ideal study tour locations regardless of what your course is specialising in. The five cities below are perfect examples of this phenomenon, offering multiple points of interest which will no doubt interest students of several, radically different subjects.

Amsterdam

Amsterdam is a great location to take art, architecture or history students. Its many museums allow a glimpse into the mastery of the Dutch school of painters and sculptors, while the Anne Frank House and the Amsterdam History Museum provide fascinating insight into the city's historical presence, and its ties with World War II. Alternatively, just take a walking tour of the city, and admire the stunning Flemish and Gothic architecture on display.

Barcelona

When it comes to cities that offer €something for everyone', Barcelona is right at the top of the list. Famous for its art and architecture €" well reflected in landmarks such as La Sagrada Familia or the Picasso Museum €" the capital of Catalonia also offers motives of interest for fans of history and even sport (with the legendary and majestic Camp Nou stadium warranting a visit). All this, combined with its ever-bustling daily life, makes Barcelona a prime destination for a study tour, regardless of subject.

Paris

Like Barcelona, Paris is another of those cities that offers something of interest for students of diverse subjects. Architectural majors will relish the sights of the Eiffel Tower or the Arc du Triomphe, while art students will not want to miss the legendary Mus©e du Louvre, or any of the smaller museums scattered throughout the city. In addition, Paris is known for its literary tradition, which means language and journalism students can benefit from a trip to the French capital.

London

It may have been late to appear on this list, but it had to be here. With huge, free-admission art galleries, monumental architectural landmarks, streets and squares featured in countless novels and films, and a must-see Natural History Museum, no city epitomises the concept of €something for everyone' better than London €" which is probably why it is such a popular study tour destination.

Venice

Aside from its immediately apparent charms for architecture, drama, history and art students, the Water City also has an historical tradition in the written word, making it another one of those cities that may inspire students of any number of subjects.

As you can see, then, Europe has no shortage of multifaceted study tour destinations. Keep these in mind the next time you are planning on taking your students somewhere.
