Why I Decided to Buy a Notebook Computer
To many computer users, it hardly matters what type of machine they use provided they can get their work done. But to computer geeks who are always on the look out for devices that come with new technology and innovative devices it matters a lot what computer they buy and this is where the small differences between each type of computer comes into focus.
When I was on the look out for a computer that I could take anywhere with me, everyone advised that I should go in for a laptop computer which they said had as many features as the desktop and was convenient to carry along anywhere. The only difference between the two is that the former is large and can be connected to a power source whereas the latter runs on a battery and has in fact a comparatively short life while being much more expensive than a desktop machine.
The laptop also derives its name from the fact that it can be placed on the lap for use although many find that it becomes very hot very fast making it uncomfortable for anyone using it for a long time. All these factors I took into consideration when choosing my own computer and decided to be a little more patient before selecting the one I preferred.
I next researched the Notebook computer which is even smaller than the laptop and I sort of liked what I learned about it. Although it's small and looks just like a notebook, it had a better battery life when compared to the laptop and of course much cheaper than both the desktop PC and the laptop. What I liked even more was it was the perfect size to be carried along being very lightweight and sufficiently handy to be carried in my shoulder bag.
It's one disadvantage, if it can be called that is that it does not come with as many features as the laptop computer or the desktop. But this was OK with me since I already had a desktop to do my serious work and only needed a small device to take with me when moving around. I could always copy whatever work I did on the move to my desktop and that was all there was to it.
Not stopping there, I wanted to learn something about the netbook, although many users informed me there was hardly any difference between the Notebook and the Netbook computer. This I realized was not exactly true because there were many significant differences in the two. Apart from the size of the screen being tiny and the weight being less than 1 kg, the Netbook is less powerful, lacks many features such as optical hard drives. They usually come with an Intel Atom processor with a speed range of 1.2 to 1.6GHz.
Taking all these into consideration I realized it was a question of personal preference and the type of work one was involved in that made one type of machine better or worse than the other. For me, the laptop was a wee bit larger than I liked while the Netbook computer had limited processing power and lack of certain features I required. So for me, it was the Notebook and I must say I made the right decision because I'm entirely satisfied with the performance of my Notebook computer to date.
