How to Convert M4A to MP3 on OS X
- 1). Find the M4A file on your computer. If you are unable to locate the M4A file you wish to convert, open the Finder in OS X and type ".m4a" into the search box. Select the file you wish to convert and import it into your iTunes music library.
- 2). Open iTunes by double-clicking the application in the Applications folder. Once open, select "Music" from the choices listed on the left bar of the screen.
- 3). Highlight the song you want to convert. If you wish to convert more than one song, hold down the "Apple" key and select the other songs you wish to convert.
- 4). Select "Advanced" from the menu selection bar. Under "Advanced," click "Create MP3 Version." iTunes will automatically begin the conversion process and will add the converted file to your iTunes library when finished.
- 5). To find the converted file on your computer, open the Finder. Type the file name of the media file you converted, followed by ".mp3." Select the appropriate file and export into an email, onto a CD or onto a flash drive.
